LOCAL COUPLE DIES IN ALASKA AUTO ACCIDENT
Word has been received in Kalispell of the deaths of Richard H. and Alice Ellen Rogers. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers were killed in an auto accident Friday night near Fairbanks, Alaska, at Toka.
The Rogers moved to Alaska in 1952 and had returned to the States last fall. They returned to Alaska about two weeks ago, and were on a fishing trip at the time of the accident.
Richard H. Rogers came to the Flathead with his parents a number of years ago. He was a pipe-fitter by trade. He made his home in Kalispell until moving to Billings and in 1952 moved to Alaska. Mr. Rogers was a member of Tanana Lodge No. 162 F&AM of Fairbanks, Alaska. He was also a member of the Moose.
Mr. Rogers is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Don Piltcher of Billings and Mrs. Tonny Marino of Seattle, Wash.; one brother, two sisters, and four grandchildren.
Alice E. Rogers was a native of Nebraska and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Piltcher. She came to the Flathead in 1926 and made her home in the Swan Lake area for a time. In September, 1929, she was married to Charles M. Lund, who died in 1942. She continued to make her home in Kalispell and in March 1947 was married to Richard H. Rogers. She and her husband moved to Billings and in 1952 moved to Alaska.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Dan Lintch of Kalispell, Mrs. William Lefferson of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Mrs. Adam Lennick of Billings; her mother, Mrs. Bessie Piltcher of the Evergreen District, four brothers, Emmit Piltcher of the Evergreen District, Don Piltcher of Billings, Lloyd and Len Piltcher, both of Fairbanks; two sisters, Mrs. Opal Grenland of Spokane and Inez of Flat, Alaska; and eight grandchildren.
The bodies are being brought to Kalspell. Services will be announced by Waggener and Campbell Funeral Home.
