George Bullitt of Old Lyme, died on Monday (February 11, 2008) of a pulmonary embolism. George moved to Old Lyme in the early 1970s.

He, along with his wife Beazie, owned a manufacturing business in East Haddam . George and Beazie retired in the mid 1990s and sold the business. After his retirement, George took up model boat building, a hobby from his youth. His boats have through the years been chosen for the Mystic Maritime Museum First One Hundred exhibit and have been sold in several galleries throughout New England, including the Mystic Maritime Museum Gallery.

George was born in Chestnut Hill , PA on November 7, 1924, the youngest of six children of the late Dorothy M. Roberts and Logan M. Bullitt Jr.

He was educated at the William Penn Charter School , Philadelphia , PA, The Canterbury School, New Milford, and graduated in 1944 from the Episcopal Academy, Overbrook, PA. After graduation he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served as a 2nd Lieutenant, piloting B25 bombers from 1944 to 1946 in the South Pacific theater. As a member of the 345th Bomb Group Air Apaches he earned nine battle stars, and one Air Medal.
