He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob S. Knutson. His youth and young manhood was spent on his parents' farm 6 miles northwest of Adams.

On May 22nd, 1896 he was united in marriage to Lena Anderson (Numedal). To this union three children were born, all of whom survive, Clarence S. Knutson of Austin, Alice Goddard and Selmer Knutson of Adams. he also leaves one grandson Donald Duane Knutson and five brothers, Carl and Jacob of Adams, John of Cedar Falls, Ia., Christ of Charles City, Iowa, and Eddie of Austin.

He was preceded in death by his wife on November 12th, 1939, also his parents and three sisters and two brothers.

His first years of married life were spent farming after which he moved to Adams and started working for the C. M. & St. Paul railroad. After a few years he returned to farming northeast of Adams. He continued for a few years when the urge to go back to the railroad overtook him, so has since about 1915 worked up till about four weeks ago a trusted and faithful employee of the railroad.

He was a lover of home, his heart bent on doing what was good for his family. He was a good father and will be sadly missed by his children.
