From the Migrants from Voss 1837-1864 List: Knut (61), his wife, Ragnild (59), along with their children, Lars (1837), Gjertrud (21), Kari (28), and Kari's daughter, Kari (2-1/2) emigrated to America on April 14, 1854. Also emigrating at the same time were Knut and Ragnild's son, Simon (1829), his wife, Martha (listed as Kari in the Migrant List) (36), and their children, Knud (1848), Lars (1848), Jacob (1849), Askild (1850), Ole (1851), Johannes (1853), and Ragnilde (1853).

Later moved to St. Ansgar for 2 years, then to Adams where the family farmed in Marshall township for 45 years. Retired to Adams village where they spent 20 years. Married Carrie Johnson in (November 29) 1869. Six sons were born to them: Simon, Carl, Jake, Eddie, John and Chris.
