Howard, who resided at 224 West 14th Street, Wilmington, Delaware, served as a Private First Class with Company K, 335th Infantry Regiment, 84th Infantry Division during WWII. He was "Killed In Action" while fighting in Germany. He has served with the Army for two years at the time of his death and was decorated with a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
