Confirmed at Little Cedar in 1899

Carl Knutson and Nellie Olena Wiste were married 9/16/1908. Attendants were Jacob Knutson and Alma Wiste.

From the Monitor Review, April 4, 1974:

Carl J. Annanias Knutson, the son of Jacob and Kari Johnson Knutson, was born July 2, 1884 in Marshall township, northwest of Adams.

He was baptized on May 17, 1899 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, being a life long member of Little Cedar Lutheran Church and faithfully attending services until his recent illness.

He attended country school and Southern Minnesota college in Austin.

On September 16, 1908, he was united in marriage to Arnellie Wiste. To this union were born three children: Carol, Orville and Myrtle. Mable Viste Larson and Arthur Viste made their home with them for several years. The happy couple was blessed with over 65 years of married life. They were engaged in farming northwest of Adams for five years. Later they purchased a farm 3 miles northeast of Adams. Since 1964 they made their home with their son, who purchased the home farm.

Carl was a lover of home, family, church and community. He served as Deacon and on various committees of Little Cedar congregation; as a member of the school board, as steam engine operator, as school bus driver, and as Marshall town board supervisor.

Carl was confined to his farm home for the past 27 months, and lovingly cared for by his faithful wife and son. He slept peacefully away on Sunday evening, March 24, 1974, at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 22 days.

He was a cheerful, thankful, patient husband and father, enjoying the many visits of Pastor Quibell, relatives, friends and neighbors.

Surviving are his wife Nellie, one son, Orville of Adams; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Carol) Shurson of Adams, Mrs. Clarence (Myrtle) Knudson, Austin; two grandchildren, Neal Shurson, Adams, Allen Shurson, Walnut, Illinois; 6 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jacob Knutson, Austin; one sister-in-law, Mrs. John (Dora) Knutson, Cedar Falls, Iowa and nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, 9 brothers and sisters, and one granddaughter.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on March 28, 1974 at Little Cedar Lutheran Church, Adams, with Rev. Wayne Quibell officiating and Adams Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pastor and Mrs. Quibell sang "How Great Thou Art" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus." Mrs. Donald Larson was organist.

Pallbearers were Neal Shurson, Allen Shurson, Willard Knutson, Allen Knutson, Clifford Wiste and Orrin Wiste.
