Born in Marshall Township. Little Cedar Church baptism records list her sponsors as Mr. and Mrs. Erick Hanson, Anna Huseby, and Anna Slindee.

From the Austin Daily Herald, March 19, 1981:

Matie G. Hanson was born March 29, 1907, in Mower County, Minn. She was the daughter of Peter and Ella Hanson.

Matie lived most of her childhood years on the home farm, near Elkton. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Matie spent most of her adult life working for and serving those who were ill in their homes. She cared for her mother until her death. She then returned to her work of service to others until a few years ago.

In the last years, she was able to enjoy many activities with friends and family. She especially enjoyed family holidays and birthday celebrations.

Matie was preceded in death by her mother and father; a sister, Pearl Tufte; an infant brother, Earl; a brother, Jerry.

Matie is survived by one brother, Herbert Hanson, Elkton; many nieces and nephews.

Matie was blessed with excellent health, suffering her only major illness last fall. After a slow recovery, she was once again enjoying many activities.

She died unexpectedly Friday, March 13, 1981, at St. Olaf Hospital, Austin, Minn.

Funeral services were held March 16, 1981, at Little Cedar Lutheran Church, Adams, Minn., Rev. Allen Gunderson officiating. Interment was in Little Cedar Cemetery.

Matie will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Blessed be her memory.
