Gerald S. Hanson, vice-president of the Farmers State Bank of Elkton, passed away March 26, 1959 at St. Olaf Hospital, the victim of a heart attack suffered March 19. He was born May 29, 1910, to Peter and Ellen Hanson on a farm in Marshall Township and except for a short time when the family lived in Taopi, lived his entire life in the Elkton community.

Gerald was baptized and confirmed at Little Cedar Lutheran church, Adams, and was a life-long member of this congregation. He graduated from Elkton High School, the class of 1927, and was employed by the Farmers State Bank in 1928.

October 9, 1932, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Lunde of Adams. Five children came to bless this home.

Mr. Hanson was a member of the Masonic Lodge and at the time of his death was Associate Patron of Mecca Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Grand Meadow. He was a charter member and officer of the lEkton Grange, a member of the village council, and a member of the Elkton school board.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, one son Warren of Minneapolis, four daughters, Mrs. Alvin Greenlee (Marlys) of Elkton, Muriel of Chaska, Ruth and Marilyn at home, and three grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Ella Hanson of Elkton, a brother, Herbert Hanson of Elkton and two sisters, Matie of Albert Lea and Pearl (Mrs. Nordeen Tufte) of Austin, He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Hanson and a brother Earl.

Funeral services were held at Little Cedar Lutheran Church at Adams, March 30, the Rev. Truman Mohn officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Urbanek and Mr. Myron Hokeness paid tribute with their songs.

Casket bearers were George Hoppin, Stephen Mangel, Robert Schneider, Miles Otto, Harlan Rogne and Ralph Petter.

Many friends, relatives and business associates came from far and near to pay their last respects. His memory is blessed.
