Alvaro Jose de Avelar, age 83, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2003 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. He was born July 23, 1920 in Azores, Portugal to Francisco and Serafina Barcelos Avelar.
He married Emily Noia Avelar August 25, 1948, she survives.
He moved to New Bedford, MA in 1968, before coming to Topeka in 1995.
Survivors include, his wife Emily de Avelar, his daughter Anna Noya, and son-in-law, Alvaro Noya, his grandson, Alexander Noya, and 2 sisters-in-law.
