LAKE PLACID, Fla. - Walter A. Berg, 75, Lake Placid, Fla., formerly of Michigan City, died at 8:30 p.m. Friday (August 1, 2003) at Florida Hospital, Orlando.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Carlisle Funeral Home. There will be a private family burial of ashes at a later date.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the service Thursday.
Mr. Berg was born July 25, 1928, in Michigan City, to Irving C. and Irene N. (Linn) Berg. He married Catherine Kunze, who survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Connie (Randal) Berg-Bennet, Bentonville, Ark., and Lucia Zefferelli Madden (formerly Cindy Berg), Tucson, Ariz.; two stepsons, Edward and Jimmy Kunze, Lansdale, Pa.; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Charles Berg, Michigan City, and Elwin Berg, Minneapolis.
Mr. Berg owned and operated Bergs Flowers and Gifts in Michigan City, retiring in 1985. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Elks, Moose Lodge 980, Skwiat Post 451 and was an avid golfer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Association.
