Senior Airman Chase Allen Gibson, 23, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He was born October 18, 1993, in Columbia, son of Rodney Gibson and Sunny Miera Klein.
Chase was a 2012 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School, where he was involved in soccer, show choir, JROTC and tennis.
After high school he worked for his grandpa at G-7 Farms. He dreamed of returning to take over the family farm.
Chase was serving in the United States Air Force as a vehicle maintenance mechanic, which he referred to as “certified parts changer.” He was in the 19th Logistics Readiness Squadron and was stationed at Little Rock AFB. He had served in Kuwait for six months.
His passion and life was dirt track racing. He helped on various pit crews, was a track worker and flagman, and was a trophy boy at age three.
Chase was an old soul and cared about others. He was always happy and positive. He was loud and sarcastic, but will be remembered as funny and for his smile. Since the time he was very young, he never met a stranger.
He is survived by his father, Rodney Gibson, of Sedalia; his mother and stepfather, Sunny and Larry Klein, of Sedalia; four siblings, Zachary Gibson, Natasha Howard, Bailey Gibson and Blaize Adams; two step-siblings, Kevin Klein and Meagan Klein; paternal grandparents, Marvin and Sande Gibson; maternal grandmother, Sandy Kerr; maternal grandfather, Horace Miera (Cella); and his girlfriend, Madi McKeehan.
He was preceded in death by his step-grandfather, Tom Kerr.
A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 13, at the Smith-Cotton Junior High School Gymnasium, followed by a visitation.
Graveside services and burial with military honors will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 14, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sedalia.
Arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home.
