Daryl L. Richardson, 54, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend, and former aircraft machinist, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016.

Daryl was an avid hunter, gardener, grill master and sports enthusiast. He was known for filling the freezer with the best deer meat you would ever eat as well as his special charcoal grilled steaks. Daryl’s gardening abilities made for a bountiful summer harvest of tomatoes and jalapeños. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races on Sunday, making trips to KC to watch the Royals play, softball league, bowling, and the occasional golf game. Daryl attended Rose Hill High School. He ran track and played on the Basketball team. He was known for sinking several game winning half court shots, one in a game against Douglass. Daryl’s children teased him about being the cause of the Douglass and Rose Hill rivalry.

Above everything, Daryl loved spending quality time with his family, especially his children, grandson Miles, and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. His children have fond memories of taking turns sitting on their Dad’s lap driving his Jeep up and down the county roads. When the kids grew up and went off to college, trips home with numerous friends in tow, always meant a trip to Busters in Derby for dinner and a game of pool with Dad. Daryl loved to play practical jokes. He loved to laugh and his laugh was infectious. Daryl married the love of his life and best friend spending 20 wonderful years together.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Richardson. Daryl is survived by his wife, Robin; children, Kasey (Dusty) Wichael, Dustin Richardson, Cori Richardson, and Madison Cox; grandson, Miles Wichael; mother, Marge Richardson; Siblings, Sheryl (Bob) Hall-Swigart, Darla (Randy) Hanson, and Doug (Lori) Richardson; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Visitation: Friday, 3 to 8 pm with family present between 5 and 7 pm at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby, KS 67037. Funeral: 1 pm, Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Rose Hill Friends Church, 14062 SW 180th St., Rose Hill, KS 67133.
