Funeral Rites for George C. Ellis to be Held Tomorrow
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock for George C. Ellis, 76, pioneer rancher of the Chrome district, who died early Wednesday morning at his home following a lingering illness.
A native of Alabama, Ellis came to Glenn county in 1878 where he has resided since actively engaged in rice growing and stock raising. For many years he owned and operated the Murdock ranch.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four children: Lee Ellis, Thomas Ellis and James Ellis, all of Elk Creek, and Mrs. Ethel Roden of Elk Grove, a brother, John Ellis of Willows and 7 grand children.
Rev. H. S. Saxby will conduct the funeral services at the Grindstone cemetery near Chrome under the auspices of Monroe Lodge of Odd Fellows. The body is at the Sweet Funeral Home.
