Black, Anna Vera Douglas, was born in 1921 in Picayune MS. She was raised in Natchez. She went to be with her beloved husband of 68 years on Wednesday, November 9, 2016.

She loved God first and her husband second. She graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1938 and graduated from Louisiana State University where she earned a Masters of Education, reading specialist degree and 30+ degree in Education. She was a teacher for 25 years and went back as a tutor for 5 years. She retired at 72 after 30 plus years of teaching. “She could teach a chair to read”. Anna Vera loved studying and teaching the bible but had to be King James Version. She taught the youth class (part of youth ministry) at Slaughter Baptist Church and later taught young adults.

She was an Eastern Star member and loved working in her garden transplanting flowers and giving them away. When you came to visit, you went home with something. Anna Vera was devoted, hard working and a prayer warrior for her family and those she knew.
