3rd Earl of Devonshire. He was an English nobleman, known as a royalist supporter. He was the son of William Cavendish, 2nd Earl of Devonshire and Hon. Christian Bruce. He married Lady Elizabeth Cecil, daughter of William Cecil, 2nd Earl of Salisbury and Lady Catherine Howard, circa 4 March 1638/39. He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) in February 1625/26. He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Devonshire [E., 1618] on 20 June 1628. He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Cavendish of Hardwick, co. Derby [E., 1605] on 20 June 1628.
