Maxie E. Ballinger Ferguson, 72, died Wednesday at New Castle Health Care Center where she had lived the past two months.

She was born Jan. 17, 1922, inn Albany, Ky., the daughter of the late William and Maggie Stayley Ballinger, and had lived in New Castle since 1952. She was a housewife and had worked for Western Electric in Indianapolis and worked for several years at Henry County Hospital in the laundry department. She was a member of Women's Auxiliary of the New Castle VFW. Her husband, Ray, died in January 1981.

Survivors include one son, Lewis Ferguson; one daughter, Mary Jarvis; and one brother, Earl Ballinger.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Randall Eugene; one daughter, Peggy Marcum; one great grandson; two brothers; and six sisters.
