Mr. Tolly Durant Icenhour, 81, of Burkhardt Ave., Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Taylorsville, NC passed away Friday, November 4, 2016 in Miami Valley Hospital following complications from a severe stroke. He was born September 2, 1935 in Alexander County to the late Francis Ralph Icenhour and Fleta Novella Warren Icenhour. He was a 1954 graduate of Taylorsville High School and was a U. S. Army veteran, who served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. As a young adult he moved north to Dayton, Ohio in search of work, where he remained and also where he worked for almost 20 years at NCR in Dayton and then to Harris Graphics, where he was a floor supervisor. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.

His family and friends were very important to him. He enjoyed the most simple joys in life such as picnics, family dinners, taking pictures, spending quality time with his children, and grandchildren, going to his high school class reunions, traveling, thrift store shopping, going to flea markets and working hard. He worked hard at being thrifty and took pleasure in his ability to do so. He was a very easy going person who always tried to avoid conflict and confrontation. He was always eager to help friends and neighbors whether it was taking them some food or helping them get a job or chores done.

Every vacation and holiday he tried his best to come to NC to see his parents, brothers and sisters and as he got older his children and grandchildren. He was patient, kind hearted, loving, soft spoken, strong willed and had a sense of humor. He will forever be loved and missed by all of his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a daughter, Rhonda Keith.

Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife, Deanna Icenhour; two daughters, Christina Lindle and husband, Robert, and Melinda Beliharz both of Taylorsville; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Kathleen Lail and husband, Marvin Joe, of Conover, Betty Warren of Taylorsville and Brenda Childers and husband, Craig, of Taylorsville; two brothers, Russell Icenhour and wife, Lovenia, of Hickory and Owen Icenhour and friend, Libby Call of Taylorsville.
