WINNSBORO - A memorial service for Carrie Belle Collins, age 90, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Stephen Greene Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Mickey Cockrell. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the fellowship hall.
Mrs. Collins died on Saturday, February 11, 2012, in UPAC Tanglewood. She was the wife of the late Coy Collins and a daughter of the late James and Lillie Belle Taylor. She was born in Winnsboro, SC, February 25, 1921. A hard worker who took care of her family from her teens, she labored in textile manufacturing, among other jobs, and as a nursing aid for the Council on Aging. Mrs. Collins was also an avid Gamecock fan.
Mrs. Collins is survived by three sons, Charles Ronald Collins, Van Johnson Collins (Pam), Brett Allen Collins (Beth); one daughter, Susan Collins Strausbaugh; one sister, Grace Douglas; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Cathy Collins.
In addition to her husband Coy, Mrs. Collins was predeceased by a son, Jerry Marion Collins; a son-in-law, Dave Strausbaugh; two brothers, Jim Taylor, Grady Taylor; and two sisters, Sarah Shelby and Louise Glisson Pepper.
Memorials may be made to Stephen Greene Baptist Church, 500 Seventh Street, Winnsboro, SC 29180.
