Stanley Huff, long-time Silver Valley resident, community volunteer and renowned geologist passed Monday November 7th. Born February 10, 1929 in Robert, Idaho. Stan and his wife Joyce moved to Osburn in 1957. Stan was chief geologist for ASARCO for 35 years, working at the Page, Galena, Coeur and various other ASARCO properties. After retirement in 1990 he was on the Water board, noxious weed board, over 50 years in Lions club and volunteer at the Wallace visitor center. He especially enjoyed telling outsiders the importance of mining.
Stan is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joyce, three children, Lori (Brian) Goldade of St. Maries, Idaho, Scott (Leslie) Huff of Kingwood, Texas, Bruce (Debby) Huff of Sparks, Nevada: six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister Dorothy DalSoglio of Salt Lake City, Utah; one brother Bill Huff of Moses Lake, Washington and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Russell and his daughter Lynne Huff Rogers.
Services will be held at the LDS church in Silverton at 11:00 AM on Nov. 12. Burial in Osburn cemetery.
