Jean Claus Puffer, 88 of Mercer, MO passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Crestview Nursing Home, Bethany, MO. He was born March 22, 1928 on the family farm in Somerset Township, East of Mercer, the son of Claus and Opal Irene (Holmes) Puffer.

On April 23, 1950 he married Shirley Mae Vandel. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2015.

Jean worked as a farmer and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Mercer, Lions Club, FHA Board and the Ravanna Cemetery Board.

In addition to his wife, Jean was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Margaret Gentry.

Survivors include daughters, Debra (Joe) Hartley, Janet (Bob Lee) Martin both of Mercer, MO; son, Terry (Patty) Puffer, Mercer, MO; 5 grandchildren, Alexis Martin, Tyler (Sabrina) Hartley, Alison Hartley, Shelly (Jeff) Wyant, Toby (Rebecca) Puffer; 4 great grandchildren; brother, Earl Puffer, Princeton, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
