Clayton retired from Woodcraft, Inc., North Manchester, IN in 2001 after 15 years. He formerly was employed at Norfolk & Western Rail Road for 12 years and White Metal, Warsaw, IN for 16 years. He was a member of Free United Baptist Church, Pierceton, IN. He was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Howard, Silver Lake, IN; son, Dr. Michael D. (Sharon) Howard, LaPorte, IN; brother, Forrest (Mary) Howard, North Manchester, IN; sisters, Mabel Miller, Milford, IN, Effie (Glen) Allen, Silver Lake, IN, Geraldine Howard, Silver Lake, IN and Ilant (Chandler) Shepherd, Silver Lake, IN; grandchildren, Jonathon Howard and David Howard; great grandchildren, Kei Howard and Riko Howard. One daughter, Velma Howard, died in 1996 and one daughter, Wilma Howard, died in 2013; one brother, Silas Howard, is also deceased.
