John Henry Brower, the son of James Henry Brower and Cora (Oliver) Brower, was born on a farm northeast of Geneva, Nebraska on April 8, 1924.

He attended Geneva Grade School and graduated from Geneva High with the class of 1943. While in high school he was active in football and basketball. John entered the U.S. Navy in 1943. He served on the U.S.S. Oyster Bay Ship and was discharged in 1946.

He married Charlene L. Werner on June 1, 1946.

John started his working career at the Wilkins Steel Building Company and then became a Postal Carrier for the United States Post Office, delivering mail in Geneva, Nebraska and later in Lincoln, Nebraska until 1984 when he retired.

John was a lifetime member of the Geneva VFW – Samuel J. Marsh Post 7102 in Geneva, Nebraska and a lifetime member of the DAV, Chapter Seven and Legion Post 3 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Henry and Cora (Oliver) Brower; his two infant sons; one sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Harold McCashland.

John is survived by his wife, Charlene; sons, James (Barbara) Brower; John (Kathleen) Brower; daughters, Sharon (Jerry) Hockemeier and Susan (Bill) Bettger.

Funeral services for John were held on Friday, November 11 at 2 p.m. at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva with Kim Dunker officiating.

During the funeral service there were two recorded hymns, "Amazing Grace" and "On Eagle's Wings".
Pallbearers included Mark Hockemeier, Ben Brower, Matt Bettger, Mike Brower, Tim Brower, Wade Lancaster, Joel Soulliere, Andrew Anderson and Dilshod Kholov.

Military graveside services were conducted at the Geneva Public Cemetery.
