Wilson - Funeral Services for Mr. Ronald "Ron" Frank Shores, 81, of Wilson are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday Nov. 11, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Wilson with Rev. Tyler Shores and Elder Mark Wattenbarger officiating. Interment will follow at the Simon cemetery south of Wilson. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Ron was born Nov. 8, 1935 at Wilson to the late Mr. Curtis Lee Shores and Mrs. Pauline Helen (Martin) Shores. He departed the life on his birthday, Nov. 8, 2016 at his home in Wilson.

Ron was a native to this area residing here most of his years. As a teenager, Ron and his family moved to Hobbs, NM following work in the Oil Patch. After graduating high school there, he attended college at the University of Oklahoma, studying Petroleum Engineering and was part of the ROTC program.
He and the former Ms. Barbara McClendon were united in marriage on June 1, 1956. To this union they were blessed with four wonderful children, Steve, Mike, Mark and Kellie.
Ron initially worked in the telephone industry, burying telephone lines for twenty years before making his move into the Oil Patch. He owned and operated the Six S construction company, was district manager for Weatherford Oil and Gas service company and also was employed with Larkin. Ron was happiest when he was working with his family. He enjoyed many years employed with his son Mike and was presently with his grandson, Daniel at Hulls Oilfield, LLC. He always enjoyed life to its fullest. He cherished family get together s and had a blast at deer camp. Among hunting, his favorite time at camp was the "chili cook off". He also loved Sandbass fishing at hickory creek and his many river trips.
Ron also done his part in supporting the community of Wilson by always being in involved in Little League baseball, All Sports Club, the FFA and served as president of the Wilson Education School Board. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wilson and had most recently attended the Cornish Primitive Baptist Church of Wilson.
Preceding him in death were his Parents; infant sister, Barbara Ann Shores and granddaughter, Brooke Shores; daughter in law Lynda G. (Branch) Shores; and stepmother, Dorothy Taylor-Shores.

Survivors include the loving mother of his children, Barbara; children, Steve Shores and wife Deisree, Mike Shores and wife Becky of Springer; Mark Shores and wife Stacy of Wilson and Kellie Hull and husband David of Ardmore; sister, Donna Bledsoe and husband Tommy of Georgia; grandchildren, Daniel Hull and wife Kyla, Sarah Gunter and husband Joe, Dr. Coty Shores and wife Chelsea, Chase Shores and wife Shantel, Morgan Pruitt and husband Barkley, Waylon Shores, Charlie Petty and husband Connor, Zane Shores and fiance Jayden and Rachel Thompson and husband Tell; great grandchildren, Krayton and Kruz Shores, Madelyn and Olivia Gunter, John Hull, Cason and Cambry Shores and Reagan Pruitt; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
Casket Bearers are David Hull, Daniel Hull, Dr. Coty Shores, Chase Shores, Waylon Shores and Zane Shores.
Honorary bearers Barkley Pruitt, Connor Petty, Joe Gunter and Tell Thompson.
Family visitation will be held from 5 to 7pm Thursday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
