Kathy M. Flynn, 52, of Elk Point, South Dakota, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016 at her home after a brief battle with ovarian cancer.
Kathy Spearman was born in Rapid City, South Dakota on September 9, 1964, the daughter of James K. and Joan (Riesberg) Spearman.
She grew up in South Dakota, Kansas City, MO, and Lincoln, Nebraska and graduated from Ainsworth High School in Ainsworth, Nebraska in 1982. Later in life, Kathy went back to school and received her associate degree in Human Resource Management.
Kathy lived her life around her kids. Family was her greatest joy in life. She loved spending time with her extended family and all of her friends. She truly believed everyone who came into her life was a blessing and there was a reason, whether it was good or not.
Kathy is survived by her three children, Ryan Sharp of Sioux City, IA, Jordon (Chelsea) Flynn of Glenwood, IA, and Morgan Flynn of Elk Point, SD; her father, James (Linda) Spearman of Jefferson, IA, her mother, Joan (Gary) Plant of Dakota City, NE; one grandson, Caden Phillips Sharp of LeMars, IA; two brothers, Rodney (Janet) Spearman of Yutan, NE, and Russell Spearman of McCook Lake, SD; her step-sisters, Jean McLaury of Elk Point, SD, and Tracy Plant of Platte City, MO; and numerous nephews.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Kirk and Lucille Spearman, and maternal grandparents, John “Jack” and Carmelita Riesberg.
