Joseph Bruce Hines was born March 31, 1947, in Coos Bay, Oregon the son of Conrad Hines and Juanita (Casey) Hines. Joe grew up on the West Coast area attending school. In the early 1960’s, Joe’s family moved to Page County, near the Simmons Family. He then entered the United States Air Force where he served as an Aircraft Mechanic. After Joe was honorably discharged, he returned to Page County, where he eventually met Colleen Simmons and the couple was united in marriage on October 11, 1968, in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Together they were blessed with the birth of four children, Bruce, Joseph, Dee Ann and Scott.

Joe and Colleen raised their family living in Page County most of their lives. Joe worked as a painter, retiring about a year and a half ago. He loved being outdoors, fishing and hunting when time allowed. However, his family was his ‘pride and joy’. Joe was known for having a ‘big heart’ and was always willing to help anyone in need, always placing their needs ahead of his own.

Left to cherish the memories of a wonderful husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and friend are his loving wife of 48 years, Colleen Hines of Blanchard, Iowa; his mother, Juanita Hines of Clarinda, Iowa; four children, Bruce Hines of Clarinda, Iowa; Joseph Hines of Clarinda, Iowa; Dee Ann Duran of Blanchard, Iowa; and Scott Hines of Blanchard, Iowa; a sister, Rosie Smith and husband Carl of Missouri; four grandchildren, Ashley, Jacob, Bruce and Autumn; along with many other family members and friends.

Preceding Joe in death is his father, Conrad Hines.

Joe enjoyed life and will be missed by his loving family and many friends.
May God grant comfort and peace to those who mourn his passing.
