Betty J. Squier, age 90, of Rushboro, PA, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016 at her home.
Betty was born on June 1, 1926, in Newton, NJ, the daughter of the late Donald I. (February 19, 1986) and Merle Baker Carter (March 18, 1993). She graduated from the West Auburn High School. Betty married Glenn V. Squier on January 14, 1957 and the couple was married for 46 years until his death on September 7, 2003.
Betty was a very artistic and crafty woman. She liked tending to her garden of vegetables and flowers. She enjoyed reading especially Stephen King novels. She also enjoyed watching movies and her favorite TV show “The X-Files.” Betty loved animals in particular her cats. She had a great sense of humor as well. She was very family oriented and loved being surrounded by her loving family.
Betty is survived by her daughters Christina Salsman of Laceyville, PA; Susan Sane of Laceyville, PA; step-children Jean Seamans of Nicholson, PA; Leah Emmons of Springville, PA; Richard (Joanne) Squier of Nicholson, PA; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband of 46 years and her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter Cheryl Ann Crayton (April 24, 2003); son Robin Smith (March 11, 2010); brother Earl K. Carter (December 9, 2000); and brother John W. Carter Sr. (December 10, 2008).
Funeral services for Betty will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 12:00 PM noon at Sheldon Funeral Homes, 459 Main Street, Laceyville, PA with Reverend Charles Bishop of the Transue and Elk Lake Community Churches officiating. Interment will be held at the Jersey Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the services.
