Russell Lynn Morton, 53 of Van, formerly of Rockdale, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2016 in the Baylor Hospital in Dallas.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial will follow in the Black Jack Cemetery, in the Black Jack Community. Pastor Lance Walch of Forest Grove Christian Church will officiate. Visitation is 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2016 in the funeral home.

Russell, the youngest child of Kennard and Earlene (Willard) Morton was born December 11, 1962 in Milam County, Texas. He was a 1981 graduate of Rockdale High School. He was Baptized in the Black Jack Baptist Church. His first love was his family, and also loved playing golf, roping, traveling and good food. He and Pamela Roberts were married in Burleson County, Texas on June 27, 1992. They lived in Van, Texas the past 6 years. Russell was self-employed owner of Cal-Tech Industrial Services since 2000.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kennard W. Morton on Mary 4, 1984 and his mother, Earlene Morton on May 7, 2009.

Surviving is his loving wife, Pam Morton of Van; sons, Travis Lynn Morton of Aspen, Colorado and Jesse Adam Downey of Caldwell; daughters, Natalie Lynette DeWeese and husband Kenny of Greeley, Colorado and Amanda Kay Downey of Midlothian; brothers, Johnny Morton and wife Peggy, Kennard Lee Morton, Jimmy Joe Morton all of Black Jack and Ken David Morton of Lufkin; sisters, Tresha Morton Kohutek and husband Ralph and Sheila Davidson and husband Henry all of Black Jack; six grandchildren, Emery, Ellison and Dane DeWeese, Alexis Downey, Trevor Batton and Hunter Downey.

Pallbearers are, George Johnson, Antonio Arguillo, Marty Bryan, Nathan Bryan, Kaleb Morton and Justin Albright. Honorary pallbearer is Johnny Towslee.
