NEW CASTLE, PA.- Nancy C. Sweet, 85, beloved wife, mom, and grandma, passed away the morning of Nov. 5, 2016, at the UPMC Jameson Care Center.
Nancy was born on May 7, 1931, in Youngstown, to the late Thomas A. and Edith M. Davis Park.
She married Allen “Al” E. Sweet on March 28, 1953. He preceded her in passing on Jan. 20, 1995.
Mrs. Sweet was a registered nurse at Jameson Memorial Hospital. She was a graduate of Poland Seminary High School and the Youngstown Hospital Nursing Program where she received her RN Degree.
Nancy had a love for knitting, crocheting, cross stitch and was a talented artist and crafter. She enjoyed crossword and Sudoku puzzles, reading and travel.
Mrs. Sweet used her love of nursing in her work with the Red Cross on blood drives and other community activities. Nancy was a devoted member of the New Wilmington Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and helped with their vacation Bible school.
Mrs. Sweet is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Richard Flynn of New Wilmington, Pa.; her son, Gregory A. Sweet of North Kingsville; five grandchildren, Christopher Flynn, and his wife, Jamie, Erica Flynn, and her fiancé, Lukas Kneeland, Katie Crum, and her husband, Josh, Dylan Sweet and Morgan Sweet; a sister-in-law, Helen Sweet; several nieces and nephews; and a beloved cousin, Wendy Maihack.
Nancy was preceded in passing by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be held on Monday, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road in New Castle.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Matthew Bupp will officiate.
Burial will take place at Oak Park Cemetery.
