Memorial Mass of Christian Burial Thursday November 10, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Cologne with Father Gregory Abbott as Celebrant of the Mass; a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the Mass at the church; interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Leona was born on August 25, 1926 in Cologne the daughter of Albert and Eleanor (Roufs) Schepers. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Cologne. On April 6, 1947 Leona was united in marriage to Sylvester Aretz at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Cologne.
Leona thoroughly enjoyed quilting, gardening, knitting and crocheting. She was an excellent baker and would make up wonderful meals for her family. Leona never passed up a game of cards with anyone. One of her favorite things to do was taking road trips with her daughters to the shopping malls.
Leona is preceded in death by her husband Sylvester; sisters Nan Moonen and Arlene Laabs.
