Born in Adams Township

From the Austin Daily Herald, March 5, 1965:

Alma L. Johnson, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nels Johnson, was born at Adams, Minn., on Dec. 4, 1899.

She was baptized and confirmed at the Little Cedar Lutheran Church, attended the Adams Elementary School, graduated from Austin High School and Mankato Commercial College.

For several years, she served as probate clerk at Jackson, Minn. Since 1933, she had been executive secretary for Bridgeman Creameries at Crookston, Minn., except for a few months spent in the armed forces as a Wac, and retired from active work on Feb. 1, of this year.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church at Crookston, had served as trustee and on the church council as secretary and was also a member of the American Lutheran Church Women.

Miss Johnson was a member of the Crookston Business and Professional Women's Club, had served as president and secretary of the local club and had held the position of treasurer of the Minnesota state organization.

Four years ago, she suffered a severe heart attack. She passed away in her sleep, Feb. 23, 1965.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. N. V. (Nora) Torgerson of Adams and Mrs. Lawrence (Ida) Knutson of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Edwin and Wallace Johnson, both of Adams.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston on Friday, Feb. 26, with the Rev. Ralph Tollefson officiating. The body was taken to Adams, where services were held at Little Cedar church on Monday, March 1, with Rev. Wayne Quibell officiating. Burial was in Little Cedar Cemetery.
