Melissa Jane Lang, 56 of Afton passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born January 8, 1960 in Atlanta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Hatley Armor and Eloise Melissa (Holt) Mabry.
Melissa was a member of West Waynesboro Church of Christ. She was a Waynesboro High School graduate - Class of 1978. Following high school she attended Longwood University where she obtained an associate degree and then continued on to Virginia Wesleyan College where she received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Melissa then enrolled at Mercer College where she had worked towards earning her degree as a Pharmacist but took time off from school to teach in the Chemistry Department at Blue Ridge Community College. She was employed by Wal-Mart where she worked as a Pharmacy Technician for 12 years.
Mrs. Lang is survived by her loving husband, Randolph "Bucky" Lang; brother, Hatley "Greg" Mabry and wife, Barbara of Waynesboro; step-sons, Matthew Lang of Schuyler, Va and Eric Lang of Waynesboro; six step-grandchildren, Hunter, Maddie, Lila, Max, Lexi and Hannah Mae; two step great-grandchildren, Silas and Ransome; nephew, James Mabry and wife, Athena; nieces, Kimberly Hicks and husband, Neil and Jamie Heath and partner, Dawn.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., with Pastor Chad Grondin officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Matthew Lang, Eric Lang, Marcos Perez, Manual Perez, David Thompson and Billy Craver.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the funeral home.
