Joel P. Johnson and Clara Knutson were married 10/1/1915. Attendants were Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Knutson.

Joel Johnson, son of John and Randie Johnson was born Aug. 9, 1892 and died March 24, 1970. Joel attended District 103 County School, one year Adams High School and one year at the University of Minnesota Agriculture School at St. Paul. He was baptized and confirmed in Little Cedar Lutheran Church. He was married to Clara Knutson on October 1, 1915 at Adams. They made their home on the farm where Joel was born and raised. To their union were born three sons and one daughter.

Joel drove an Adams School bus a number of years; served on various boards and committees in the community. Joel is survived by his wife Clara, three sons, Wilbur of Adams, Carleton and Byron of Rockford, Illinois and one daughter, Mildred) Mrs. Martin Olson, also of Rockford, Ill.; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two sisters, Clara Neilson of Claremont, Calif. and Ella Knutson of Austin, Minn. The family would like to thank everyone for all the kindness they have shown.

Relatives and friends from out of town were from Albert Lea, Spring Grove, Austin, Rochester, Rose Creek, Duluth, Ostrander, Leroy, Faribault, Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Rockford, Ill.

An Adams farmer, 77, was killed in a three-vehicle accident at the east edge of Rose Creek shortly after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Joel Perry Johnson, Adams, Rt. 1, was reported dead at the scene of the accident at the intersection of County Road 4 and State Highway 56.

According to the Mower county Sheriff's Dept., the Johnson car was heading west on County Road 4 and collided with a pick-up truck driven by Danford Olson, 28, Harmony, Minn. A third car, driven by Joel Thiel, 609 5th St. NW, was stopping at the other stop sign and was struck by one of the vehicles.

Olson was treated and released at St. Olaf Hospital for minor injuries. Thiel was not injured.

Johnson who farms near Rose Creek, was going to Adams to pick up his wife at the Beauty Shop.

The Johnson car was reported a total loss; the Olson vehicle owned by Harmony Enterprise, had $1,500 damage; Thiel's car, minor damage.

Mower County Coroner Dr. George Stahl investigated the incident along with the Mower County Sheriff's Dept. and the Minnesota Highway Patrol.

Johnson is survived by his widow, Clara; three sons, Wilbur, at home, and Carlton and Byron at Rockford, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Martin (Mildred) Olson, Rockford; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Nelson of California, Mrs. Ella Knutson, Austin.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Little Cedar Lutheran Church, Adams, with Rev. Wayne Quibell officiating.
