From the Monitor Review, February 15, 1979:

Hazel Hagen Johnson, daughter of the late Charles and Hannah (Qualey) Hagen, was born in Elkton, Minnesota on November 25, 1905. She suffered a massive heart attack and passed away at St. Olaf Hospital, Austin, Mn., on February 1, 1979, after only one day of illness.

Mrs. Johnson graduated from the Elkton, Mn. High School, attended the Winona State College, and taught in the Primary grades in the Elkton and Adams Public Schools for many years.

She was united in marriage to Wallace Johnson on July 7, 1934 and has been a resident of Adams since that time.

She was an active member in the Little Cedar Lutheran Church and the A.L.C. Women's group activities. Her love for children was clearly shown by the giving of her time to show love and concern for the retarded children and in her enjoyment of teaching Sunday School to primary groups for many years. She was an active leader in the American Legion Auxiliary activities.

Hazel will long be remembered for her warm, friendly personality, her untiring energy in helping others in the community, and, her devotion to her husband and other family members.

She is survived by her husband, Wallace; two sisters, Elsie G. Hagen of Rochester, Mn., and Mrs. Gladys Knutson of Austin; nieces and nephews.

Blessed be her memory.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., February 5, 1979, at Little Cedar Lutheran Church, Adams. Rev. Allen Gunderson officiated. Interment was in Little Cedar Lutheran Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gerald Anderson, Louis Anthonisen, H. E. Lunde, Vance Torgerson, Earl Weness, Clifford Wiste. Mark Weness was soloist and Mrs. David Anderson, organist. Adams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
