Clyde Preston Allen, 88 of Hazard, formerly of Martin, died Monday, February 6, at Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center following a long illness.

Born March 12, 1906 at Langley, he was the son of the late Urban Allen and Hattie Preston Allen Osborne. He was a local merchant, owner and operator of the Jewell Hardware Store in Martin for 57 years. He was a graduate of Berea Academy and Berea College, a member of of the Maytown United Methodist Church since 1987, a member of the Kentucky Historical Society, Sandy Valley Historical Society, a member of the second Century Club, an a Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors include his wife, Tina Conner Allen; one daughter Rosemary Ewen of Hazard; one brother A B Osborne Jr of Quaker town PA; Three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Wednesday, February at 1 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel with the clergymen Troy Poff and Jim Wade officiating.

Burial was in Davidson Memorial Gardens at Ivel under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.
