VIVIAN, LA - Graveside services for Mr. Jim Courtney will be held on Sunday, December 31, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Munnerlyn Chapel Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Keith Bateman, assisted by Rev. Wayne Clegg.

Jim was born in Ida, LA on August 21, 1931, and passed away on December 29, 2006 at the age of 75. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served 4 years in the U.S. Army. He spent most of his life working in the local oil business where he made many friends.

He most loved the times he spent with his family. He touched the heart of all he knew with his warm smile, kind ways, and gentle guidance. He was a man of strength and character.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jenness and Levonia Courtney; three sisters, Mary Courtney, Bob McDoniel, and Faye Feducia; one brother, Donald Courtney.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Loyce Courtney; three sons, Jimmy Courtney, Jr. of Vivian, LA, Jerry Courtney and wife Sissy of Ida, LA, Grady Courtney and wife Christie of Vivian, LA; one brother, J.D. Courtney of Shreveport, LA; two sisters, Delma Ruth Brown of Opelousas, LA, and Ina Joyce Craig of McKinney, TX; one brother in law, Joe McDoniel of Benton, LA; 8 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thanks the doctors and nursing staff of Willis Knighton North as well as Dr. Taylor and the staff at North Caddo Hospital for their kindness and care during his illness. We would like to extend a special thank you to Lisa Walbeck.

Paw Paw Jim will live long in the hearts of all who loved him.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Justin Courtney, Jason Courtney, Anthony Courtney, and Nicholas Courtney.
