Nancy Elizabeth Cook was the fourth of nine children born to Daniel and Elizabeth Willingham Cook:

She married William Thornton Myers on January 18, 1872 in Anderson County, Texas. Twelve children were born to this union:

NECROLOGY (Dated January, 1937):

MRS. NANCY MYERS

Mrs. Nancy Elizabeth Cook Myers died at her home hear Anson January 1, 1937, at 9 p.m. at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 16 days. The body was brought from Anson by the Barrow-Lawrence Undertaking Company, with interment in the Merkel cemetery.

Rev. Mr. Vernell of Potosi was in charge of the services. Pallbearers were: Billie Myers, Bryant Myers, Hosea Myers, Anson, Sie Edwards, Haskell, Roy Clark and Earnest Meeks, Merkel.

Mrs. Cook was born in Alabama, May 16, 1853, and was married to W. T. Myers Jan. 18, 1872. Twelve children were born to this union, four of whom are living: O. L. Myers, D. R. Myers, Mrs. Dovie Burnett, Anson, and S. M. Myers, Calif. Only one sister, Mrs. Susan F. Doan of Merkel, survives. There are 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Myers joined the Old School Baptist Church at the age of nineteen and was a faithful member until her death. Her work on earth is finished, but throughout all eternity she will enjoy a rich heritage for the faithful and useful life she has lived.

Note: The marker on Nancy Elizabeth Myers' grave was placed in 2006 by Mary Louise (Cook) Healer and Janie Healer Davis in memory of Aunt Nancy Myers. Marker was laid according to information found in Aunt Nancy's obituary and her death certificate. The stone shown in the photograph was the only marker for Aunt Nancy's grave at the time. The original stone was left in place when new stone was laid.
