From The Monitor Review, January 22, 1976:

Richard H. Battey, 71, died Wednesday at Rochester State Hospital.

A resident of the Rochester area, he was a former resident of Adams, where he served as constable about four years.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Knauer, Rochester, Mrs. Terry (Norma) Hines, River Falls, Wisconsin, Mrs. LaVern (Connie) Larson, Kellogg, Minnesota; three sons, George, Richard and Carl Battey, Rochester; 16 grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Hillis (Mary) Anderson, Hackensack, Minnesota, Mrs. Frances Howard, Beanerton, Oregon; a brother, Lyle Battey, Spirit Lake, Idaho.

Funeral services for Richard H. Battey, Rochester, were held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Religious Activity Center, Rochester State Hospital, Rev. Alfred W. Dahlberg officiating. Interment was in Little Cedar Lutheran Cemetery, Adams.
