From The Monitor Review, February 3, 1977:

Joel Gustav Anderson was born January 23, 1922, at Adams, the son of Anton and Ingeborg Anderson. He was baptized March 12, 1922, and confirmed May 10, 1936 at Little Cedar Lutheran Church. In 1940 he was graduated from Adams High School.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he was employed at Geo. A. Hormel & Co. for approximately 30 years, as well as farming in the Rose Creek and Dexter area. Ill health forced him to retire in 1974.

Joel passed away Thursday, January 13, 1977, at St. Olaf Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Alvin I. of Austin, Irving A. of Rose Creek, and Adolph, who died in infancy.

He is survived by three sisters, Ida Sorenson, Louise Barrows, Adams, Mrs. Paul (Alma) Haynes, Sr., Austin; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Anderson, Rose Creek, Margaret Anderson, Austin; one brother-in-law, Paul Haynes, Sr., Austin; several nieces and nephews of three generations.

Funeral services was held at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams, Minnesota, on Saturday, January 15, 1977 at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Allen Gunderson officiating. Organist was Mrs. Lawrence Wiedemann and singer was Janet Barrows. Casket bearers were Darrel Anderson, Stanley Ask, Paul Haynes, Jr., Almon Sorenson, Virgil Sorenson and Milo Sorenson. Interment was at Little Cedar Cemetery. Lunch was served by Circle 4 of the church.

Joel was concerned for everyone and will be sadly missed.
