Floyd K. Clark was born in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma. His formative years were during The Great Depression of the 1930's. In the late 1930's and early 1940's, he owned a grocery store in McAlester, Oklahoma with his father. In 1942, he joined the US Army serving as the supply sergeant in an ammunition company. He participated in the Normandy Invasion and was part of the Occupation Army in France. After the war, he returned to Oklahoma and worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot in McAlester. In 1946, he married Edriss Dutton in the First Baptist Church of McAlester. They were married 63 years until her death in 2010. He was ordained as a Deacon by the First Baptist Church of McAlester. In 1949, their first son, Alvin Clark, was born. During the Korean War, he was in the Oklahoma National Guard's 45th Infantry Division and went to Korea. After the Korean War, he returned to McAlester, and in 1953 a second son, Joey, was born. In 1955, a third son, Delmar Clark, was born. In 1958, the family moved to Midwest City, Oklahoma when Floyd went to work at Tinker Air Force Base. Over the years, Floyd has served in many and varied capacities of service and leadership at Country Estates Baptist Church including Chairman of the Deacons, Chairman of the Finance Committee, Chairman of the Personnel Committee and Chairman of the Building Committee. Floyd retired in 1974, after many years of service to his country in World War II, the Korean War and in the Civil Service with the Department of Defense. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edriss Clark and his son, Joey Clark. He is survived by his son, Alvin and his wife Susan and his son, Delmar and his wife Malinda and five grandchildren, Alex, Jenny, Chandler, Malisha, and Melody, and one great grandchild, Luke and son-in-law, Kyle. A memorial service will be held at Country Estates Baptist Church, 1000 S. Midwest Blvd., Midwest City, at 11 am Saturday, November 19. No flowers; memorial gifts may be made to the Country Estates Baptist Church Building Fund.
