Son of Simon Skowvon who resided in Willimantic, Connecticut.

James served as a Staff Sergeant, 169th Infantry Regiment, 43rd Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Windham County, Connecticut and was a member of the Connecticut National Guard prior to the war.

His National Guard unit was called into full time active Army service on February 24, 1941, prior to the war, from Willimantic, Connecticut. He was noted, at that time, as being Single, without dependents.

James "Died Of Wounds" received in action during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
