Mark Joseph Barr, 87, passed away Monday, October 24, 2016, at Life Care Center of Palm Bay, Fla.. Mark and his wife, Kathleen Barr celebrated 68 years of marriage on October 14, 2016. Born in Belfast, Ireland, he was the son of the late Mark Joseph Barr and Rose Ann (Reevey) Barr. Upon coming to America, Mark worked for Coastal Tank Lines and Bowen McLaughlin, and was a bartender at San Carlos restaurant and owner of the Stoverstown Inn. In 1994, Mark and Kathleen retired to sunny Florida. He loved spending time with his large family. He was a member of the Prince Club, Dutch Club, Viking Club, the BD Club, and the 9th Ward. In addition to his wife, Kathleen, Mark is survived by his six children, Margaret Ream (Bradford), Kathleen J. Newcomer (Kenneth), Patricia A Barr, Maureen J. Dohm (Michael) all of York; Kevin J. Barr and Angela M. Nelson (Doni) of Melbourne, Fla. and a daughter in law, Paula Barr of York. He is survived by 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. His death was preceded by his son, Gabriel Mark Barr. There will be a memorial mass at St. Patricks Catholic Church, 219 S. Beaver Street, York, PA 17401 at 10 a.m. on November 19, 2016. Immediately following mass a celebration of life service will be held at the UAW union hall, 3562 Gillespie Drive, York, Pa 17404. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brevard Alzheimer's Foundation, 4676 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne, Fla. 32935.
