Douglas E. Baker, 58, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away Nov. 2, 2016. He was born on May 5, 1958, in Anderson, Indiana.
Doug graduated from Pendleton Heights High School in 1976 and attended Ball State University in communications.
Doug's career started in radio, where he worked at several major market stations including: KNIX Phoenix, WFMS Indianapolis and WSIX Nashville, where he won a Billboard Award for Program Director of the year and multiple national awards for Program Director and Music Director. From there, Doug went into the music business, working as Director of Radio Marketing at Capitol Nashville, National Director of Promotions at both Virgin Records Nashville, Sony/BMG RCA Records and CO5 Records. Lastly, he was Director of Southeast Promotions for New Revolution Entertainment Group.
Doug was a member of Leadership Music, Class of 1994 and served on the Country Radio Broadcasters Board of Directors from 1994 to 2003 and Belmont University Music Industry Program.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Tamra (James) Baker, Anderson; mother, Leeota (Beverly) Baker, Anderson; three sisters, Martha (Doug) Mullins, Celina, Tennessee, Brenda (Mike) Reimer, Carmel, and Cheryl (Chris) Taulman, Pendleton; along with several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Baker.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Brother Lance Stevens officiating.
Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park.
