Robert Salathiel Hines, 76, of the 500 block of Lynnshores Drive, retired from the General Electric Corporation in Erie, Pa., died Dec. 24, 1993, in his residence.

He was born in Akron and was the widow of Jean Louise Hines. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church; Veterans of Foreign Wars; and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Costea of Virginia Beach, three sons, Robert S. Hines of Virginia Beach, William Hines of McKean, Pa.; and Gary Hines of Virginia Beach; 15 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11a.m. Tuesday in Messiah Lutheran Church by the Rev. Frederick Guy. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church Building Fund, 4136 Holland Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23452. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel is handling arrangements.
