Cyrl Ray "Spook" Smith, 81, of died Monday, February 20, 2012, at Park Ridge Hospital.
A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late Sam J. and Locci Warren Smith. He was also preceded in death by his wife, June Hall Smith, who died on June 1, 2011; and by his siblings, Elva Netherton, Eula Henson, Margaret Grindstaff, and Wade, Blake, S.J., and Leroy Smith.
Mr. Smith was an avid outdoorsman, and loved hunting and fishing his entire life. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, and was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Smith is survived by his son, Benny Smith and wife Tammie, of Candler; grandson, Chris Smith and wife Amanda, of Candler; great-grandson, Dalton Ray Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Mr. Smith will be on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave., with the Rev. Bobby Winebarger officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. -
