Betty F. Carey, 88, went to be with the Lord on Friday morning, November 4, 2016 at her home. Mrs. Carey was born in Madison County to the late Lee & Ruth Fortson. She moved with her husband Alton to Athens, GA & raised her daughters there. She attended Southern Business College in Atlanta, GA. Upon her retirement from the University of Georgia’s College of Education, they moved back to Madison County. Mrs. Carey was a lifelong member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She loved cooking, reading & gathering with her family & friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, T. Alton Carey & brother, Dwight Fortson.
