Father Of 15 Children Is Stricken

A local man who suffered an apparent heart attack Monday morning while driving his car was pronounced dead on arrival at Newark Hospital.
Howard Lewis Barton 50, of 22 N. Buena Vista St., suffered the attack at 10:10 a.m. while waiting for a traffic light at Buena Vista and Everett Ave, in front of the Hospital.

Rockwell Employee

His wife, Anna who was riding with him summoned a passing motorist and they carried Barton into the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Mrs. Barton said her husband had not been ill and worked last week. He was employed as a lathe operator at the Rockwell Standard Corp.

Barton leaves 15 children and 11 of these are of the home. They are Jerry Lee, Barbara Ann, James Lewis, Juanita Elaine, Bill Russell, Patricia Louise, Melanie Kay, Delores June, Sherry Lynn, Lorelei Gay and Carl Duane, all of the home; S-Sgt. Richard Gene Barton, Whitemans Air Force Base, near Sedalia, Mo; Mrs. Evelyn Marie Devito, Heath, Shelia Lorene Barton, Newark and Raymond Dale of Columbus.

Other survivors are his widow Anna Bernadine (Buck) Barton, his mother, Mrs. Nellie J. Barton and four grandchildren. His father and a brother and sister are deceased.

Born in Philo

Mr. Barton was born July 3, 1910, in Philo, the son of Clarence Henry Barton and Nellie Jane (Crow) Barton. The family has resided in Newark the last 13 years, coming here from Philo. He was a member of Local 1037 UAW Union.

The body was taken to the Criss Brothers Funeral Home but arrangements are incomplete.
