Mrs. Stebbins was born in Oakdale and had lived in Lake Charles most of her life. She attended Lake Charles High School. Mrs. Stebbins married her first husband, Albert Guedry on Oct. 8, 1939. She and Albert worked side by side at South Street Pharmacy while raising five children. She then took a job as a bookkeeper for Larry Stephenson CPA Firm until she was 79 years old. Mrs. Stebbins was past president of American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. She was known to many as “Mama June”.
She is survived by five children and their spouses, Linda Guedry Mills of Lake Charles, Carol Guedry of New Braunfels, Texas, Norman Guedry and Jeanne and Alan Guedry and Alicia all of Longview, Texas, Anita Guedry Lloyd and Doug of Marble Falls, Texas; a granddaughter, Chanda Guedry of Lake Charles; four stepchildren, Paula, Rick and John Stebbins, all of Lake Charles and Germaine Stebbins Robbins of Slidell, La.; 10 grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren; a brother, Daniel May and wife, Joyce; a sister, Norma Anderson and husband Robert D.; and a brother-in-law, Harcourt Stebbins and his wife, Carol all of Lake Charles; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl (Thompson) and James Norman May; her first husband, Albert Guedry; her second husband, Thornwell Stebbins; a stepson, Charlie Stebbins; a brother, Robert May; two sisters, Juanita May Lyons and Ruth May Fontenot; a step-grandson, Paul Lloyd; and a nephew, Brian May.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Ronnie Estes will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Garden Cemetery.
