He was born on Aug. 20, 1930, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, to Leslie L. and Pearl Marie Richardson.
Fred served his country honorably for 21 years in the United States Army and was a prisoner of war during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid ocean fisherman and enjoyed boating, hunting and camping. He loved working with wood and was a master carpenter.
Fred is survived by his children Terrie D. (Robert) Abernathy; Nancy L. (Bernie) Hatfield; Deborah E. (Rex) Winkler; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor “Scotty” Richardson; parents, Leslie and Pearl; brothers: Robert D. Richardson, Charles E. Richardson, Lyle D. Richardson and Leslie Roy Richardson; sisters: Rosetta M. Lochman, Betty J. Bennetto and Pearl M. Hanson. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Steven D. Kelley.
