PULASKI, PA. – James R. Arnold, 70, went forever to be with Jesus on Nov. 2, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, surrounded by family.
Born Jan. 6, 1946, in Sewickley, Pa., he was the son of James M. and Vera Young Arnold.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth A. Bittinger Arnold, whom he loved faithfully since their marriage on May 13, 1967.
James was a 1964 graduate of New Castle High School, and attended Youngstown State University. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam veteran. He was employed as a carman for Youngstown Northern Railroad.
“Jim” was a YMCA Aquatics volunteer and served as a board member with Lawrence County Head Start. He made several work and witness mission trips to the Dominican Republic. He was an active member of the former Church of the Nazarene. Jim served in many church ministries.
Surviving is one brother, Richard (Sherry) Arnold of Bessemer, Pa.; two sisters, Susan Arnold and Carol (Rod) Spaulding and two brothers-in-law, Al Rooks and Jim Reid, all of New Castle, Pa.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John Arnold; and two sisters, Sharleen Rooks and Sandra Reid.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road in New Castle, with a funeral service immediately following, with the Rev. Paul Young officiating.
Interment will be at Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown.
