Augusta Ann Hollis was the illegitimate daughter of James Turner of Parting Ways and Nancy Hollis. She was the granddaughter of black Revolutionary War soldier Plato Turner.

She published intentions in Plymouth on 10 November 1844 and married 15 June 1845 James Snowden, a former slave from Maryland who likely escaped slavery through the Underground Railroad.

They had a child born in Plymouth 3 August 1846, possibly at the house of her father James Turner at Parting Ways.

Augusta died of consumption.
